On Saturday, May 11, Carl Topilow and vocalist Joan Ellison will perform GET HAPPY! A Judy Garland Celebration Program with the Toledo Symphony in celebration of Darke County Center for the Arts' Ruby Anniversary. Featuring Judy Garland's original arrangements brought back to life, you'll hear her biggest hits from Hollywood to the concert stage, including The Trolley Song, Zing! Went the Strings of My Heart, That's Entertainment, Get Happy, The Man That Got Away, and of course, Over the Rainbow.
Julianna Milin, soprano
Julianna Milin will perform as Leonora in Regina Opera Company’s IL TROVATORE. Opening night is Saturday, May 11, with other productions on May 12, 18, and 19. The performance is part of New York Opera Fest.
Miller Symphony Hall
The Allentown Symphony Orchestra will be presenting Disney in Concert: A Dream Is A Wish on Saturday, May 11. Everyone’s favorite Disney movies come alive with music featuring Frozen, The Little Mermaid, Lion King, Beauty and the Beast, The Princess and the Frog, Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, and Aladdin, including over one hour of high-resolution video clips from the original films plus four guest soloists: Andrea Ross, Whitney Claire Coss, John Di-Lisa, and Andrew Johnson.
On Wednesday, May 15, Miller Symphony Hall will host Black Violin, which is led by classically trained string players Wil B. (viola) and Kev Marcus (violin). The band uses their unique blend of classical and hip-hop music, often described as “classical boom," to overcome stereotypes and encourage people of all ages, races, and economic backgrounds to join together to break down cultural barriers.
Oregon Bach Festival
The Oregon Bach Festival is honored to be presented with The Arts and Business Partnership Award from the Arts & Business Alliance of Eugene (ABAE). The award will be received on May 31 during the BRAVA Breakfast event.
