Timothy Myers announced he will be working with North Carolina Opera to open its 2019-20 season with a concert performance of the third act of Wagner’s Siegfried in November.

Handel’s biblical epic “Saul” closes Philharmonia Baroque’s season this Saturday and Sunday, April 6 and 7 in Berkeley and on April 12 and 13 in San Francisco and Palo Alto. Music director Nicholas McGegan will lead the orchestra, Philharmonia Chorale and a top-tier ensemble of soloists in four performances of this large-scale masterpiece.

There are two exciting events this weekend. On Friday, April 5, Steve Sandberg brings his quartet to Allentown for a fresh take on Ravel, Liszt, and Bartók drawing from African, Latin, Balkan, and Indian traditions. Then, on Sunday, April 7, a new series begins: Arts at St. John's with ASO musicians and special guests. This first intimate chamber concert features Allison Kiger (Flute Section ASO) and guitarist Oren Fader, and takes place at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Allentown.

Philadelphia Young Pianists' Academy
PYPA young artists Nicole Liu and Yinghan Wang performed alongside artistic director Ching-Yun Hu in a PYPA benefit concert on March 31 at the residence of Dr. Bill and Jack Carr. Proceeds from the concert will go toward the PYPA scholarship fund and awards for first prize winners of the 2019 Philadelphia International Piano Competition.
